Char White a life-long resident of Louisiana, received a BA from McNeese State University in Lake Charles and spent her early married life in the Sulphur, Louisiana area. She resides in west central Louisiana with her husband, Ray.
Her previous focus has been in visual arts experimenting with a variety of mediums.
Most recently she has returned to her earliest creative outlet, writing. She uses one of her favorite mediums, fabric collage, as the cover art for her historical fiction works, as well as in the illustrating her children’s series, “Writing With Paula.”
Her current journey into writing began as letter writing to her grandchildren in an effort to introduce them to relatives they would never know otherwise, and to preserve histories that were on the way to being lost. The young people expressed such an appreciation for the tales that they evolved into a series of books that described the real experiences of growing up in Cajun country in south Louisiana. A lover of history, Char draws on stories she’s heard from her parents and grandparents for inspiration.
Her artwork and books can be seen at the Natchitoches Art Gallery in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and The Natchitoches Art Guild Gallery page on Facebook

Book Excerpt or Article
Drawing a long-ragged breath Millie looked at Ruth and began, "There came a time when MacFarland owed Papa for a change. Papa had found another woman to marry, but she wanted Lionel and me out of the house first. It was a blessing really, because Papa and MacFarland came to an agreement. MacFarland found someone to marry me and take me off Papa's hands in exchange for the money owed him."
Moving from the window to sit at the table Millie went on, "That is how Tom and I came to be married. But we aren't really married, are we? Is what we are doing wrong? Please tell me what to do. Tom is feeling responsible for Lionel and me, and I don't want to trap him. Your gift of property is a godsend. It gives us both a place to live, but is this right?" By the time she finished her explanation, Millie was in tears with her head cradled in her arms on the table.
