Outback Odyssey: Synopsis

Set in Gippsland, Outback Odyssey is not just a historical adventure set in the  vast, unforgiving landscapes of 19th-century Australia; it is also an allegorical reflection on  the tensions of the past and present, culture and conquest, survival and identity.

 

The story follows  Jimmy, a young Yorkshireman who finds himself in the heart of the Gippsland frontier, and  is taken in by an Aboriginal stockman, who teaches him about the customs, traditions, and wisdom  of the Munarrakalai people. Jimmy undergoes a profound physical and emotional  transformation as he learns from the  Elders, learning to see the land not as something to be conquered, but as something to be  understood, respected and protected.
